Students in our Sixth Form benefit from comprehensive support as they take their next step, whether that’s through the Oxbridge process, selecting the best university for their chosen course, pursuing an apprenticeship, or entering the world of work. Our dedicated team is here to guide them every step of the way.

James Kimber, Director of Sixth Form, explained: “All students in our Sixth Form are supported throughout the Oxbridge and UCAS process. Alongside Will Yates (Senior Deputy Head overseeing UCAS), Matthew Pitteway (UCAS Coordinator), Isobel Robertson and Phil Whelpton (Heads of Year 12 and 13), Emma Low (Academic Scholars and Oxbridge Coordinator), and Angela Loten (Careers Advisor), I help students plan their next steps. With a wealth of experience in the academic team, students also receive guidance from subject teachers and tutors.”

Seb d’Agar, Deputy Head, added: “Discussions about university courses can begin as early as Year 9 when students are choosing GCSE options. For example, if a student is interested in medicine or veterinary medicine, we ensure they select the right GCSEs. While university choices aren’t the main focus at this stage, we do advise on subjects that keep doors open. Many universities prefer a humanities subject at GCSE, and UCL requires a language for undergraduate courses.

When students choose their A Levels in Year 11, we provide tailored advice based on specific university entry requirements, helping them make informed decisions to align with their future aspirations.”

Will Yates, Senior Deputy Head, said: “The UCAS process starts in Year 12, where we meet with students and parents for an information evening. I work with Matthew Pitteway and James Kimber to manage the process, offering guidance on university choices and personal statements, and finalising references. Tutors and subject teachers also play a key role in helping students write strong applications.

Emma Low starts working with the Oxbridge group and students who plan to study medicine, dentistry or veterinary medicine at the beginning of Year 12, which will include workshops and visits to Churchill College in Cambridge, who we’re affiliated with.  The process for applying is earlier for these courses. For those not pursuing university, we’re on hand to advise on alternative routes, including apprenticeships. Throughout the process, students have support and guidance which results in very high numbers achieving their first-choice university.”

James Kimber added: “We’ve also had great results with students securing apprenticeships, such as the merchant navy, pilots' courses, and degree apprenticeship roles at Mini and Rolls Royce. The application process often includes assessment centres and interviews, and we provide bespoke support to help students prepare. For many, it’s their first formal interview, and we ensure they feel confident and ready. Angela Loten also advises students on careers throughout their time at Seaford.”

John Green, Headmaster, said: “I say to students when they join that Seaford Sixth Form should be the best two years of their academic life. They study the subjects they love while embracing our ethos of achieving personal bests inside and outside the classroom. With co-curricular opportunities, trips, and sports tours, our students work hard and truly enjoy their time at Seaford.”
