Seaford STEM - NHS Careers and Data Challenge
Students had an insightful careers challenge

Year 7 and 8 students this morning took part in the NHS Career and Data Challenge, through which they can gain a Certificate of Virtual Work Experience.
“They learnt about the huge range of jobs within the NHS and were shown how data analysis helps provide solutions for improving the service,” said Head of Careers Angela Loten, who organised the event.
“The students have been given a scenario in which ‘Matthew’ has had an accident, and his friends call for an ambulance. They need to look at the data to tell Matthew’s friends how long it might take for an ambulance to arrive.
“All students have an excel spreadsheet that they can use to answer some key questions, such as ‘on which day do most calls occur?’ and ‘what is the average response time for certain types of injury?’.
“Their findings need to be presented in an imaginative and creative way. Any completed submissions will gain a Certificate of Virtual Work Experience.”
Thanks to Angela Loten, and to the Prep School staff and students for taking part.
