Safe Drive – Stay Alive PSHE Talk
An important talk to Year 12 on road safety.

Sixth Formers, including some students from Churcher’s College, today took part in a road safety awareness course entitled ‘Safe Drive – Stay Alive’ (SDSA).
James Kimber, Head of Sixth Form, said: “This hard-hitting, emotional and important presentation gave students an insight into the dangers while driving and being a passenger in a vehicle. I was impressed with all students from both our own Sixth Form and Churcher’s College with how they engaged with the talk. I know from speaking to several students and staff after the talk ended, that they learnt a lot from the personal stories of all the emergency services and victims.”

Lara Stitt, Director of Student Personal Development, said: "Students heard two accounts from people affected by accidents. First, Spencer spoke of his own involvement as a passenger when he was just 16, and how his brain injury altered his whole life. Many students could see themselves in his story – young, sporty and carefree. The presentation ended with Paula, who recounted her experience as the mother of her 16-year-old son who was fatally injured."

Thanks to speakers for their bravery and courage to speak to our students today, and to West Sussex SDSA for their time.
