Kevin Finniear, Head of English, said: "Seaford's Public Speaking Teams were successful again on Monday evening at the Rotary Club Youth Speaks Competition at the Guildhall in Guildford. The intermediate team of Dom Armstrong, Sam Twigger and India Liddle debated whether the government should place an additional tax on ultra-processed food, having watched Dr Chris van Tulleken's recent BBC documentary 'Irresistible: Why we can't stop eating'. All three put in amazing performances in their first experience of public speaking and won the competition, progressing to the next round in February.

The senior team of Daisy Toms, Eve Blenkinsop and Chase Thomas were also excellent, arguing the pros and cons of universal basic income, tapping into the expertise of Daisy and Eve, who study Politics and Sociology respectively. Chase was a warm and charismatic chair, drawing lots of positive comments from the audience. Daisy was also awarded the award for being 'Best Proposer of the Motion' on the evening."

Congratulations to both teams!
