Prep School
Choosing the right Prep School for your child is a very important decision for all parents, and Seaford College provides a thriving and friendly environment where every student is treated as an individual.
The Prep School is an integral part of Seaford College, benefitting from the world class facilities and teaching that the College has; it also has its own buildings, playground, and outdoor creative classroom.
Our policy of continuous investment in the School and its facilities ensures that the students have an outstanding environment in which to achieve their best.
In Years 1-5 the majority of lessons are taught by Form Teachers, with subjects such as Music, French or Spanish, PE, Games and Design & Technology taught by specialist staff. From Year 6 and upwards, all subjects are taught by specialist subject staff, many of whom also teach in the Senior School. We aim to nurture a love of learning through a broad based curriculum, and classroom activities are often complemented by day and residential trips. A Special Educational Needs Coordinator oversees the School’s learning support provision and this further enhances learning and achievement.
The School offers a varied and wide range of extra-curricular activities, including sport, music and drama. Music has a highly valued place in School life and students have the opportunity to learn wind, string or brass instruments, playing in group ensembles together with School orchestras. All of the Senior School facilities are available to the Prep School, including use of the playing fields, astro pitch, sports hall and swimming pool. Our sports teams regularly compete against schools from across the South East of England.
All students in Years 1-5 are assigned a Form Teacher, while Years 6, 7 and 8 have a Form Tutor. Great emphasis is placed on regular communication between staff and parents through parents’ consultations and informal social occasions. With our extended day facilities and flexible boarding arrangements, we provide a warm and caring home-from-home atmosphere to suit the needs of students and their parents.
