The new Peer Mentors participated in a training session this week with the No.46 team.

Jo Forman, Assistant Head (Safeguarding and Resilience, DSL), emphasised the importance of their role: “Your role is about relationship building, proactive listening, and helping students see their options. It’s about fostering resilience and letting them know they always have choices.”

Sarah Adams, Safeguarding, Wellbeing, and Resilience Lead (DDSL), added: “Students look up to you. You offer kindness and advice from your own experiences, becoming a trusted sounding board for younger students.”

During the session, the Peer Mentors practiced handling scenarios and shared key insights. One impactful takeaway: “Know that you're not alone, and everyone feels like this at some point.”

As we welcome the new team, we bid farewell to the remarkable 2024 Peer Mentors. Jo Forman praised their dedication: “The 2024 Peer Mentors have been nothing short of inspirational. Their courage, resilience, and willingness to step up—whether presenting in assemblies or role-playing in front of peers—have set a high standard for future cohorts.”

Mr. Whelpton, Head of Year 12, expressed his appreciation: “Thank you for applying and for your contributions. Peer Mentors make a huge impact on the Seaford community, and your role is deeply valued.”
