Golf at Seaford College

Set within the beautiful surroundings of Lavington Park, near Petworth, we offer our students an exceptional environment in which to enjoy and develop their golf.
We are one of only a small number of schools in the UK with our own nine-hole golf course on site, giving students the opportunity to play and practise without leaving the school grounds. With stunning views across Lavington Park, our course forms part of our extensive 450-acre estate at the foot of the South Downs.

Alongside the course, our students benefit from an on-site driving range, a state-of-the-art indoor golf simulator and expert coaching. Individual lessons can be booked with our resident golf professional, Andy Shakespear.
Golf from Year 3 to Year 13
We offer golf opportunities from Year 3 through to Year 13, welcoming beginners, recreational players and ambitious golfers looking to compete at a high level or potentially pursue a professional career.

Having such extensive facilities on site makes golf part of everyday life at Seaford, allowing our students to practise regularly alongside their academic studies.
Competition is an important part of our programme. We hold Prep School competitions on our own course, while senior students have opportunities to represent Seaford against other schools, including fixtures at nearby Cowdray Park Golf Club.
Celebrating our students’ success
We also support talented golfers with ambitions beyond school, and several of our students have gained golf scholarships to universities in America in recent years.

One of our current talented golfers is Georgia Young, who finished second in the Sussex Amateur Ladies Championship at Crowborough Beacon Golf Club. Georgia was selected for the Sussex County Ladies Team and has offers of golf scholarships at American universities for 2027.
Recent success in our Prep School includes Seth Edwards winning the ISGA Junior Cup at Drayton Park, with our Seaford team finishing second overall.
A sport for life

Whether our students play for enjoyment or compete at a high level, golf provides opportunities to develop confidence, resilience and focus, alongside a lifelong enjoyment of the sport.
Golf also brings our wider community together, with annual golf days giving parents and alumni the chance to socialise, compete and network.
Our golf programme reflects our commitment to providing opportunities beyond the classroom, helping students discover new interests, develop their talents and enjoy being active in the beautiful surroundings of Seaford.
