British Science Week – Careers Talks
A fantastic opportunity for students to hear about careers in Science.

Careers talks are very popular, and students love the talks with a science theme.
Dr Andy Richardson, Head of Science said: “It was a delight to welcome two Seaford Alumni back to host a careers tea, in collaboration with the Biomedical Society, to inform the students about their pursuits in science careers. Josef Amin graduated from Seaford in 2018 and Beccy Weir left her teaching post in 2021 to start a master's degree in Materials Science. Since completing her Master’s, she has been working for various science start-up companies. The pair were able to give a real world view of day-to-day life in the early science career pathway. The inquisitive nature of students was on display as Ty Bourne, in Year 9, asked if they had always known they wanted to pursue a career in this field. Similarly, we’ve had excellent feedback in the department where Year 10 students have said they are now looking to pursue Biology A Level specifically after going to the careers tea – well done, Beccy and Josef.”

We have also had talks on working with animals and careers in medicine.
