Josh is now heading out to Abu Dhabi in November to play in the final. 

Josh trains with our Golf Coach & Pro, Jack Halsey on Seaford’s golf course. Jack coaches alongside Callum, Josh’s coach at Cottesmore Golf Club. We look forward to following Josh’s progress over the next few months as he prepares for the event in November. 

Cottesmore Golf Club shared: “Congratulations to Josh Greig, the 2012 Cottesmore Junior Academy Pupil of the Year and 2013 Cottesmore Junior Academy Player of the Year, who won the England South Faldo Series under 16s event at Royal Ashdown Forest Golf Club. His three round total of 219 finished 2 shots clear of his nearest competitor, but it was not easy. Josh’s opening round of 74 put him in 4th place, 4 shots behind the leader Max Shirvell of Essendon Country Club. 

His 2nd round 70 (-2) put him in front, 2 shots ahead and as we see week in week out it is never easy to take a lead into the final round. A birdie at the 2nd increased his lead to 3, but with Lucas Dutartre from France charging up the leaderboard (-4 through 8 holes) and Shirvell having a solid level par front 9, Josh had his issues dropping 3 shots on holes 5 & 6 and a torrid triple bogey on the 9th to find himself 2 shots behind with 9 to play.

On the 10th Josh regrouped and played a near flawless back 9 to slowly catch those in front of him, drawing level at 15 and getting his nose in front with a great par on the treacherous 17th. If his opponents were hoping for a nervy blip coming up the last, they were soon put right when Josh stuck his approach to 12 feet and then rolled the putt in to close the event with a birdie.

Well done Josh Greig, this is no small feat and we all wish you the best when you play in the Grand Final in Abu Dhabi in November against the World’s best Juniors. All your hard work is starting to pay off”.
