A video about our day of community work for the whole school.
Seaford’s Community Action Day took place this week and involved around 900 students and staff carrying out 4,800 hours of volunteering work at over 42 venues in West Sussex, Hampshire, and Surrey.
The various activities included a travelling band playing at care homes; helping to set up a local summer fete; clearing and tidying allotments and cemeteries; and making up 400 food boxes as part of the College’s ongoing commitment to Foodbank. The College also continued its year-round relationship with the likes of St Wilfrid’s, Stonepillow, the Aldingbourne Trust and Cat Protection charities.
In this video students and staff talk about the charities they visited. Sarah Byrne talks about the work at St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester where they were carrying out of Phase 2 of the Wellbeing Gardens at the Donald Wilson Rehabilitation Centre.
Matthew Pitteway speaks about the vital work that Stonepillow carries out for the homeless in Chichester.
Jo Forman spoke about the opportunities that THINK18 offer the community in Chichester. She said: “What has been great today is that this has been a student led activity, Seaford students have led the way and organised the day and I’m really proud of the work we have done to support this vital charity.”
John Green, Headmaster joined the College in 2013 and created the initiative at Seaford College. John said: “The main idea is to make a positive difference to the surrounding community, our students are extremely fortunate to study and live in such a beautiful part of the country, it is only right that they put something back. As well at this annual event, Seaford has a very active Charity Committee with students and staff take part in community fundraising events throughout the year.”
