Success at Rotary Club's Youth Speaks Competition.

Ella Newton, Baya Jackman (Year 7) and Ty Bourne (Year 9) recently competed in the District Semi-Final of the Rotary Club's Youth Speaks Competition at Tormead School. Head of English Kevin Finniear, who runs public speaking and the Debating Club at Seaford, said: “They presented both sides of the argument on the topic of whether the teaching of British Sign Language (BSL) should be made compulsory in UK schools. The government has recently announced that BSL will be available as a GCSE in England from September 2025 after a long campaign for its introduction.

All three put in amazing performances with Ella winning the award for 'Best Speaker' on the night.”
