The Seaford Equestrian team had a busy and successful two days at Hickstead at the NSEA Eventers’ Challenge Championships.

Several of our riders placed in the top ten in huge classes with over one hundred riders entered in each class. An amazing achievement.

Things don’t always go to plan when preparing for these big occasions and we lost a couple of strong team combinations due to pony illness and the sudden sale of one outgrown pony. However, Sophie Gosling stepped in at the final hour with great effort, energy and enthusiasm and rode brilliantly in all four classes over the weekend to ensure we had full team representation. She also came 4th individually in the National Novice Challenge class.

The NSEA were the first riders to use the fabulous new arenas at Hickstead which include a large new water complex and we were grateful to Equine America for sponsoring the classes and providing free Prosecco to parents and team managers!

In the final class on Sunday evening, the 1.05m Eventer's Challenge, Jessie Schute rode a fantastic round on her pony Marco to be placed 3rd in an extremely high standard and high quality class.

Jessie was cheered on by the rest of the Seaford team who had stayed to watch and had many compliments on her skilful riding and lovely pony.
