Jenny Lyne captivated her students this week with a Rugby World Cup lesson

Jenny Lyne captivated her students this week with a Rugby World Cup lesson. Jenny is a former England rugby union player who played Blindside, Flanker and Lock for England as well as Saracens' first teams. Jenny put on her England top for the first time since the 2006 Women’s Rugby World Cup and described the experience as ‘emotional’.

She started her Yr 4 Geography lesson with the topic for the term, volcanoes. Students chose a country in the Rugby World Cup and then used an atlas to find out which continent the country is in. They then used iPads to research whether the continent has a volcano.

For the second half of the lesson she shared her story, medals and memorabilia and the students excitedly put on her England kit and medals. One pupil said: “You’re awesome Miss” and we agree!

Jenny remains the only woman to have started two consecutive World Cup Finals, in two different positions having had two children in between.
