Kevin Finniear, Head of English, said: “Two Seaford teams competed in the English-Speaking Union Southern Regional Final at Churcher's College on Monday. Emily Freud spoke on the importance of taking young people's mental health as seriously as their physical health whilst Sophia Johnson argued that university degrees in the UK are being devalued.

Competing against seven other teams from across the South of England, Emily and her teammates, Amelie Wright and Sofia Mattinson came in second place. Kieran Rutherford and Amy Allison also put in superb performances once again, with Amy winning the award for 'Best Chairman'.

All six students from Years 9 and 10 deserve a great deal of credit for doing so well against stiff Year 11 opposition from the other schools.”
