A fantastic day celebrating success and personal bests

Alistair Petrie was a very humorous and personable at Seaford’s Speech Day. Alistair’s message was very powerful, and he spoke about the power of stories and every student finding the thing they love and going out into the world with confidence to tell their story.

Alistair is a former parent and in this interview he talks about his personal experience and what he loves about Seaford and our ethos.

Alistair’s message was very powerful, and he spoke about the power of stories and every student finding the thing they love and going out into the world with confidence to tell their story. He observed that we all have a responsibility to also elevate others to help them tell their story.

He said: “Seaford is your research lab and time is your currency. Use the time to find the thing you love to do and then figure out a way to use it to pay your rent. Keep looking for that thing and most importantly you don’t need to know what that is at the moment. Work out who you want to be rather than what you want to be, and the rest will follow.”

Alistair’s advice is what Seaford’s motto of ‘Love to learn’ is all about. All students are encouraged to get involved and to try new things and discover a lifelong passion for academic subjects, performing arts, sport, art, photography etc. during their time at Seaford. They love to learn.
