Mariella Houweling celebrates her GCSE results

Mariella Houwelling with Seaford's Headmaster John Green & Fliss HitchcockCongratulations to Mariella Houweling who gained two 9s, two 8s & six 7s in her exams.

“I am very very happy. It’s not quite real yet” she told us. Her biggest surprises were English (where she gained two 9s) and Physics (she got a 7).

Mariella credits the fact that she boarded at Seaford for her grades. “Everyone is in the mind-set to study and so you study. I was also able to attend extra sessions and I got extra support”.

“The teaching at Seaford is amazing. Mr Percival and Miss Johnson were so supportive. The confidence that the teachers had in us gave us the confidence to try harder”. Mariella liked that fact that the teachers made you feel comfortable to be able to say if you didn’t understand something.

Mariella took time out from her studying to play netball. “It’s really necessary to take this time to switch off from study” she said “and at Seaford there is so much to choose from”. Her mum agrees “It’s great that sport is encouraged, even if they’re not taking PE for GCSE.

“I love Seaford because the amount of support you get from teachers and friends is phenomenal. The inclusiveness of the school is what you need to succeed”.

Mariella will be staying at Seaford to study Biology, Chemistry and Maths.
