Greenpower
Seaford has been actively involved in Greenpower since 2004, and has been successful in qualifying for the finals every year since, achieving outright wins and numerous podium finishes along the way.
Students have the opportunity to be involved in the design and construction of electric racing cars built to a demanding set of regulations, and race their cars against hundreds of schools from around the country, as well as many international entries.
Seaford is also proud to enter cars in the junior Formula Goblin project, which aims to inspire children to take an interest in engineering in a fun and innovative way. The kits for the cars come flat-packed with step-by-step instructions to guide the teams through construction in an easily understandable manner. The building process introduces students to basic mechanics and on completion they can use the vehicles at any of Greenpower’s events around the UK, and an annual heat is hosted by the college for local competing teams.
