Thursday 4th July
Hello Cape Town!
After a long overnight flight from Heathrow and a good luck message from the BA captain, the Seaford rugby squad touched down in South Africa and were safely through security to see the amazing view of Table Mountain before boarding their coach journey to the Rugby Performance Centre in Riebeeck West.
After a welcome from Alan Zondaugh, the Performance Director of RPC and his wife, the team unloaded their bags into their rooms before an orientation of the facilities. It wouldn’t be long before the majority of the squad were diving into the rather cool swimming pool!
With wholesome portions of spaghetti bolognaise inside them and a good period of recovery from the long flight, the squad were soon put to work by Alan in a spectacular venue with a mountainous backdrop.
Ball handling drills were the main focus of the session which definitely woke the boys up! The drills were based around supporting team mates and carrying the ball at pace. It was a great start for the touring party, which has got them raring to go for the following two weeks.
Tennis, swimming, ping pong and pool were the chosen activities by the boys between rugby, dinner and bed. Early nights for all; bring on the rest of tour!
