Wilberforce House, Seaford College Prep School, (7-13 years), is an integral part of Seaford College with its own buildings, playground and corporate organisation and approaching 170 pupils.
In Wilberforce we are able to combine reasonable size year groups (55-60 in each of Year 7 and Year 8) with being part of a larger school where we all occupy the same site and share the same outstanding facilities. This ensures continuity and a smooth transfer when the time comes to move to the Senior School.
Wilberforce prides itself on its warm, friendly and supportive character. We believe that happy children make the best learners. Our policy of continuous investment in the school and its facilities ensure that the children have an outstanding environment in which to learn. This can be seen in the development, during the summer of 2009, of an excellent suite of classrooms for Years 3, 4 and 5 which has enabled Wilberforce to move in an exciting new direction.
Class sizes average 10-12 in Years 3, 4 and 5, 12-14 in Year 6 and 16-18 being the average in Years 7 and 8 where there are normally 3 to 4 sets in each subject. The broad based curriculum is complemented by an impressive number of extra-curricular clubs and activities.
Success in Wilberforce is based firmly on the individual pastoral care given to each pupil, through the school's tutor/form teacher system and, where necessary, expert assistance is offered for those who require learning support. With our extended day facilities and flexible boarding arrangements, we aim to provide a warm and caring home atmosphere to suit the needs of a variety of pupils and parents,
