Seaford CCF members gained a clutch of prizes in clay pigeon competitions.
Sharp-shooting members of Seaford’s CCF came back from two major competitions with a clutch of prizes.
Two teams – 12 pupils in total - took part in the in the British Schools and Young Shots Championships, held at the EJ Churchill Shooting Ground, High Wycombe, at the end of June, with xx-year old Piers Plowman coming away with The CCF Cadet High Gun trophy – an excellent achievement!
There were around 300 guns from schools, scout groups and cadets taking part – so we were up against some stiff competition.
The format was two 50-bird courses, one each for A and B teams.
Each course compromised of seven stands (although the B course was slightly less demanding than the A course).
Both courses had a balanced array of enjoyable targets for shooters of different ability levels.
In addition to the team competition, there were also prizes for the top cadet, individual High Gun prize and parent and child combined competition.

Everyone who took part competed to a very high standard and their behaviour was a credit to the College. Well done all!
Thanks also to those parents who came along to support the teams and to Chris Sayell for driving the minibus.
Later in June saw the 2009 National Cadet Clay Target Competition at Fareham Clay Ground, where the College’s four-man team of Archie Godman-Dorington, Ali Kent, Harry Dick and Angus Hopkins, won first prize for the overall team.
In addition, Archie Godman-Dorington (pictured standing, centre) came first in the Pool Shoot and third in the Individual Shoot while Ali Kent (pictured right) came second in the Individual Shoot.
Harry Dick (pictured left) came fifth in the Individual Shoot and Archie and Ali came third in the Try Services.
Angus Hopkins was a last-minute substitution, just two hours before the team left, after Piers Plowman reported an injured ankle, sustained the previous day in athletics!
