Seaford students tackle three peaks

Outdoor pursuit and CCF leaders at Seaford College took seven students on a mountaineering expedition, where they tackled three incredible challenges in just three days.

Setting out on Saturday, May 2, Chris Sayell, Tom Reynolds and Jackie Kyte took the magnificent seven to Betws Y Coed, where they scaled Mount Snowdon – 1085 metres above sea level.

They then drove a further four hours to the Lake District where they tackled Scafell Pike – a mere 978 metres above sea level, in comparison!

To conclude – and to celebrate Finn Spackman’s 13th birthday – they completed a walking tour of a working slate mine in the spectacular Honister Pass and finished with a Via Ferrata – climbing around the side of a mountain on steel wires and steps!

The boys taking part were: Olli Bain, Ben Coleman, George Finnamore, Freddie Robbins, Finn Spackman, Oliver Vickery and Oliver Wiggins.

College Adventure Training Co-ordinator Chris Sayell said: “This was an outstanding achievement for boys of their age. It was the first time Seaford College have undertaken such an expedition, so hats off to them all!”
