It is always a special day in the summer term calendar when we play host to the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC). MCC is the world’s most active cricket club, the owner of Lord’s Ground and the guardian of the Laws of the game.
Ross Donaldson, Seaford’s Cricket 1st XI Captain told us: “It’s a great privilege having MCC here today. It’s a great honour for a lot of the young students.”
With the MCC being invited to bat by the 1st XI, the opening batsmen laid a solid foundation only for the middle order to be pegged back by some excellent bowling. The declaration came 40 minutes before the tea interval and Seaford made full use of the short session, scoring almost 100 runs in 10 overs for the loss of just one wicket. In an enthralling post tea session Seaford 1st XI powered their way to a famous victory, finishing comfortable winners with a final score of 205 for 6, and some very happy students.
