Seaford at the ESU’s Mace Competition

Seaford's Year 10 team Our Debaters and Public Speakers have been busy this term.

Anna Pantazopoulou and Tor Pothecary reached the second round of the ESU Schools’ Mace competition last week and were involved in a passionate debate against Lancing College on the subject of corporations adopting a public stance on social issues. The team argued well but on this occasion did not progress to the next round.

Our Year 10 team (pictured) had an excellent outing at the the Regional Finals of the ESU Public Speaking competition at the Bishop’s Palace in Chichester this week, with Tommy Hodson presenting on the subject of the environmental impact of renewable energy, picking up the prize for best individual speaker against some very tough opposition. He was ably supported by Jolyon Haynes and Dougal Artingstall as questioner and chair respectively.

Well done to everyone involved and Ad Alta for future debates and events!
