1st XI start cricket season with victory against the Old Seafordians

Cricket XI v Old Seafordians FinalSeaford College 1st XI started the cricket season with a five wicket victory against the Old Seafordians on Saturday.

The traditional season opener saw the Old Seafordians batting first and they posted 165 off their 35 overs with Connor Eales and Patrick Soper both taking 3 wickets for the 1st XI.

Seaford’s run chase was given a robust start by Zac Hodgson who made 46 and Ross Donaldson (28 not out) and Captain Harry Bennett (38 not out) then formed a mature partnership that guided the 1st XI to victory with 7 overs to spare.

The “John Green Shield” was presented to the 1st XI after the game and the Shield will celebrate the traditional fixture between the 1st XI and the Old Seafordians. The Shield will be played for annually and will be engraved with the name of the winning team each year.

Chris Adams, the Head of Cricket at Seaford College was delighted to get the season started with the traditional game against the Old Seafordians. “It is a special game against the Old Seafordians and an excellent way for our 1st XI to start their season,” he said. “I was pleased with the way we played and it was lovely to welcome back the Old Seafordians and it was a really good test for us at the start of our season”.
