Earlier in the month, Seaford College houseparent Matthew Pitteway completed the Rotterdam Marathon, which has been ranked among the top 10 marathons in the world by Runner’s World magazine. He finished the course in a time of three hours and 40 minutes.
“I’d like to thank everyone for their extremely generous donations and words of encouragement for the run,” said Matthew. “My time wasn’t quite as quick as I was hoping for – my target was three hours 30 minutes – but all things considered, I was very happy.
“It was an excellent day. The weather was stunning and the scenery was beautiful. It’s a really well organised race with a huge amount of support from spectators. The attractive T-shirt and medal [pictured] I received at the finishing line just about made all the pain and suffering worthwhile. And it was just as long as the London course!”
