Seaford College’s cricket teams have started the season with a number of good results. On the first weekend of matches the 2nd XI, the U15 As, U15Bs, U14As and U14Bs all beat the opposing teams from Christ’s Hospital.
The 1st Team have put in some fantastic performances against Churcher’s and Hurst, sadly only losing to Hurst in the final overs of the game. Matt Kouris took an impressive 3 wickets for 22 runs against Churcher’s, and Corry De Candole should be credited for his fielding and bowling. Stand out performances from the 2nd team include Hugo Squire’s 51 not out against Christ’s Hospital, and Matt Langmead’s 91 against Brighton College.
The U15s have beaten Hurst twice, also defeating Christ’s Hospital with Will Hitchcock making 52 and Zac Hodson scoring 68. Zac also scored 74 in the victory over Hurst. Last Thursday against Hurst, Harrison Channel Grier contributed an outstanding bowling performance to take 6-14.
The U14As have similarly had a great start to the season. Ross Donaldson has been batting well, making 46 against Christ’s Hospital and 41 against Hurst, whilst Dom Easton scored a half-century also against Hurst. Through a strong team fielding performance, the U14As limited opposition teams Churcher’s and Hurst to a meagre 43 and 92 runs respectively. The U14Bs deserve a very special mention for being the only unbeaten team so far this season, with Ollie De Candole making 38 against Christ’s Hopsital and Harry Pavia scoring 35 also against Christ’s Hospital.
Head of Cricket Dan Joseph said: ‘This is a hugely encouraging start to the season with all teams playing very well. We look forward to a very exciting term with more fantastic results.’
