Seaford’s Dr Faustus Production Rivals the West End

web1The production of Dr Faustus was a higlight of the Winter term. Students from Seaford College presented their engaging and atmospheric production of Christopher Marlowe’s Doctor Faustus. The cast made up of students between the ages of fourteen and eighteen rose to the challenge of presenting this less familiar Renaissance play to a modernfaustus seaford college web2 audience with clarity and insight.The production design, created by Jamie Klückers, presented Faustus’ book-lined study as a backdrop, with the use of candle light and shadow to lend an eerie feel to the macabre events of the play. Freddie Millar and Max Jukes as Faustus and Mephistopheles, were supported by a strong ensemble of young performers who were able to powerfully convey the darker aspects of the play as well as moments of slap-stick humour. faustus seaford college web4The director, Dr Jane Askew said ‘It has been a privilege and a pleasure to work with such a committed and talented cast, on what was a very challenging piece.’
