Tanya Wake – Seaford’s Rising Star for Women’s Cricket

Seaford, Cricket, Sussex Cricket, Women's CricketTanya Wake, studying in the lower sixth at Seaford College, has been asked to train with the Sussex women’s cricket training, starting this Sunday 2 February.  She has been successfully involved with Sussex age group cricket for the past 3 years.  Her success has been building up, during last season she was part of the County Championship and County T20, winning Sussex girls U17 side. She also received the Sussex U17 Bowling award for taking the most wickets in a season. Tanya says: “I’m so excited and can’t wait to start training with the team.”

This is a great opportunity for Tanya to train with the pro’s at Sussex, which include England regulars Sarah Taylor and Holly Colvin.  Dan Joseph, Head of Cricket, says: ”we wish the best for Tanya in her continued pursuit to play at Cricket’s highest level.”  Tanya trains with Dan Joseph and Min Patel every Thursday at Seaford College.  Min Patel (former England, Middlesex and Kent player) has years of experience playing and coaching at the highest level and is proving to be an exciting addition to the Seaford coaching team.   Dan Joseph added: “I’m delighted to say that we’ve been building our girls’ cricket interest and participation at Seaford for a few seasons. With prep school girls’ sessions starting last year, to this year’s senior girls’ squad preparing for their inaugural fixtures this coming summer. With talents such as Tanya and Hollie (Boarer), we have had girls fighting for places within the boys’ squads for a number of years now.”
