On November 27th, the Seaford College Debating Team took part in the first round of the English Speaking Union’s Mace Debating Competition. From a field of 4 teams, Seaford was selected in the top 2 to progress to the next round.
The Team consisted of Year 13 pupils, Alex and James Watts, who debated against a team from The Royal School. Alex and James admirably proposed the motion that developing countries should prioritise economic development over environmental concerns. The other schools in the competition were Churcher’s and Bedales.
Congratulations to Alex and James who are now hoping to repeat their success in the next round.
